As part of our Public Spaces exhibition series, we’re looking for artwork to display at Chapel Hill Public Library, Chapel Hill Town Hall, and potentially other venues around town. New and established artists and curators are invited to apply with works for consideration. What you need to know:

Selected art will be on display for 2 month periods between November 2022 – June 2023.
Each exhibit lead artist or curator will receive a $200 stipend.
Selected artists will need to provide about 10-15 original artworks to exhibit.
Artwork may be for sale and no commission will be taken on works sold.
For an additional stipend, selected artists/curators can work with Community Arts & Culture staff to create workshops or programming related to their exhibit.

EXHIBIT STIPEND: $200 per exhibit

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 5 p.m. Monday, September 19

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all Triangle Area artists, artist collectives, and curators aged 18+ creating original art that can be hung indoors.

Community Arts & Culture aims to inspire creativity and celebrate community for a better Chapel Hill. We value inclusion, experience, and understanding, and encourage submissions of work to reflect these values.

Complete the form below and upload the following materials as one zipped file. Don’t know how to zip a file? Learn more here. File formats other than those requested will be considered. Apply with:
- Four Images of Previous Work
  - Submit 4 examples of the type of art you intend to exhibit or curate. Art must be able to hang indoors. *Note: these images do not have to be the exact work exhibited, but should indicate the style, media, and subject matter of the artwork you intend to exhibit or curate.*
  - Each image should measure about 900 pixels (longest dimension) and no larger than 600 KB.
  - Submit each image as a separate .jpg file.
  - Include an image list as a separate .doc, .docx, or .pdf file and include the file name, media, dimensions, and artist’s name.
- Art Resume
  - No more than 2 pages providing artistic or curatorial resume.
A Selection Team including representatives from Chapel Hill Public Library, Town Hall, and the Chapel Hill Cultural Arts Commission will review applications and select artists and curators to exhibit. Selections will be based on the artistic excellence of the sample artwork and our interest in exhibiting diverse artists and artworks. Arts staff will notify applicants of the Selection Committee results and will make exhibition arrangements with selected artists and curators

The Town of Chapel Hill reserves the right to refuse any or all submissions or works, to refuse any finalist, and to waive informalities in procedures should it be determined that submissions or works are not adequate, or for any other reason prior to a written arrangement being reached.
