Pittsboro Pride Festival & Parade

This weekend of fun, food, music, vendors and activities at The Plant invites the LGBTQ+ community and allies to join in festivities including a drag show, dance party and parade. Both days of the festival will include a lineup of drag performers and musicians. Come out Friday for an ages 13-and-older celebration and dance party, and bring the whole family on Saturday for story times, vendors, food and the parade.

Small Town Pride

179 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, June 7

Commemorate Pride in June as the towns of Carrboro and Chapel Hill co-present a monthlong celebration that includes the Chapel Hill Pride Promenade, beginning at Peace & Justice Plaza and ending at 140 West Franklin Street Plaza, plus drag performances, art installations, live entertainment, food, treats and more. Find other ways to take part in Pride with a playlist compiled by local artists and booklists from Chapel Hill Public Library.

Out! Raleigh Pride

Fayetteville Street, Raleigh, June 20-21

This annual family-friendly event is an integral part of Raleigh’s downtown culture. It promotes diversity, awareness and inclusiveness for the LGBTQ+ community complete with live entertainment, local vendors and artists, great food, a beer garden and a kids zone. This year, the festival is introducing an adults-only (18+) day on Friday, while the whole family can take part in Saturday’s events. This event helps support the LGBT Center of Raleigh.

OutSouth Queer Film Festival

309 W. Morgan St., Durham, Aug. 14-17

The Carolina Theatre hosts this signature event, the second-largest film festival in the Southeast and the largest cultural arts event serving the LGBTQ+ community in the Carolinas, with screenings of films that provide a glimpse of today’s LGBTQ+ life around the world. Pride: Durham, NC

712 Broad St., Durham, Sept. 26-28

One of the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender events in the area, this September
festival features more than 100 vendors every year. The LGBTQ Center of Durham celebrates LGBTQ+ community, history, activism and pride in Durham and across North Carolina. Don’t miss the parade along Duke University’s East Campus – it stretches two miles and features hundreds of marching groups. The theme for this year’s celebration is “We Are the Rainbow” in recognition of individual and community strength, autonomy and purpose.
