Join us at the 140 West Franklin Street Plaza in downtown Chapel Hill to meet local artists, watch live performances, and more.

What is Día de los Muertos?
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a long-standing tradition in Mexico and other parts of Latin America that was popularized in the US by the Chicano Movement in the 1970s and 1980s. Far from a spooky or scary holiday, Día de los Muertos is dedicated to remembering and honoring the lives of deceased loved ones and often celebrated with humor, positivity, and respect. We encourage everyone to join in the festivities and learn about Día de los Muertos.
