Complete our online application and upload the following materials as one zipped file. Don’t know how to zip a file? Learn more here. File formats other than those requested will not be considered.

Applications should include:

Four (4) Images and List of Previous Work

• Submit (4) images of past work that represents your style of work and/or is relevant to this project.
• Each image should be approximately 900 pixels (longest dimension) and no larger than 600 KB.
• Submit each image as a separate .jpg file.
• Submit an image list as a separate .docx or .pdf file and include the file name, media, and dimensions.

Resume

• No more than 2 pages providing artistic resume and description of relevant projects.

4-Sentence Project Proposal

• In the appropriate form field in our online application, please describe in 4 sentences or less the artwork you would create for this project (media, size, appearance).

Application materials will be reviewed by a selection team with representatives from Downtown Chapel Hill Partnership, the Town of Chapel Hill’s LGBTQIA+ Resource Group, the local artist community, and other relevant stakeholder(s).

Finalists

Up to three finalists will be contracted to submit proposals based upon the artistic excellence and relevance of the artist/team’s previous work. Each finalist will receive a $100 proposal stipend.

Selected Artist/Team

The selection team will choose one proposal for installation. The selected artist/team will receive an all-inclusive $5,000 stipend to finalize the design with stakeholder input and fabricate, install, and de-install the artwork.

5pm Monday, March 24, 2025: Deadline for submission of application materials

Late March 2025: Applicants contacted with selection results; Finalists contracted

Early to mid-April 2025: Finalists submit proposals; project artist/team selected

Late April 2025: Final design approved

Thursday, May 29, 2025: Artwork installed at 140 West Franklin Plaza by project artist(s)
