Chapel Hill Community Center Mural Application

Applications should include…

Four (4) digital photos of your mural work:

• Submit 4 photographs of exterior murals you have successfully installed that represent your current style of work and may be relevant to this project.
• Each photo should be approximately 900 pixels (longest dimension) and no larger than 500 KB.
• Submit each photo as a separate .jpg or .png file.

A list providing basic information on each of the murals shown in your photos:

• Submit the list as one single .docx or .pdf file.
• This list should provide the following information for each of the murals shown in your photos and reference the photo’s filename: dimensions (height x width in feet), media, and any other relevant information you would like to share (year completed, budget, and/or installation timeframe).

Resume:

• No more than 2 pages providing artistic resume and mural projects

Application materials will be reviewed by a Selection Team comprising representatives of the Parks & Recreation Department and local artists.

Up to three Finalists will be invited to submit proposals based upon the artistic excellence of their work and mural experience. Each Finalist will receive a $750 proposal stipend that includes up to two in-person meetings to visit the site and meet stakeholders.

The Project Artist/Team will be selected based on the artistic excellence and suitability of their proposal.

Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 5pm: Application deadline

Early April 2026: Applicants contacted with selection results; Finalists selected

Early May 2026: Finalists attend meetings & submit proposals; Project Artist/Team selected

May-June 2026: Project Artist/Team engages stakeholders and finalizes design

June 2026: Project Artist/Team installs murals

The Town of Chapel Hill reserves the right to refuse any or all submissions or works, to refuse any finalist, and to waive informalities in procedures should it be determined that submissions or works are not adequate, or to cancel this RFQ and the associated application process for any reason prior to a written arrangement being reached.
