Calling all Triangle Area Artists

We’re looking for a Triangle-based artist or artist team to paint murals on cement pipes along the wooded section of Lower Booker Creek Trail near Tadley Drive in Chapel Hill. The artwork will inspire and delight neighbors, commuters, and other trail users who travel the Booker Creek Trail.

Artists and artist teams are invited to submit qualifications, and up to three selected finalists will each receive a $100 stipend to submit a proposal.

  • There are 4 pipes to be painted.
  • The pipes are large cylinders measuring 5 feet in diameter and range from 5-7 feet tall. See photos below.
  • The murals should reference the area’s native plants and bird life and allow the pipes to better harmonize with the environment.
  • The art needs to remain on display for a period of 5 – 10 years.

DEADLINE:  5 p.m. Monday, July 25
ELIGIBILITY:  Artists must live within 40 miles of Chapel Hill and submit application materials using the directions below.
