ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE: GREY CULBRETH MIDDLE SCHOOL

In 2004 the Artist in Residence program brought professional visual artist Maggi Ann Grace to the 7th and 8th grade students at the Grey Culbreth Middle School to create original works for the Chapel Hill Transit buses.  Using recycled advertising bus cards, the students collaborated with the artist over several weeks to explore the theme, "See it...from Here....".  The cards were exhibited at Town Hall in October and November 2003.  Then, the cards were installed on the Chapel Hill transit buses, all routes, from mid-November 2003 until May 2004, during which time more than 5,000,000 riders experienced these works.
