PUBLIC WORKS PLAZA

The project In Our Hands is designed to respond to the Public Works Department's Administration Building and Courtyard.  A semi-circular stone wall sits between the main entrance and the woods, creating a concrete plaza that is 38' wide and 45' deep.  The wall is 4 feet wide at its base and tapers to 2 feet wide at the top; it rises 8 feet and is constructed of angular stones, reminiscent of traditional walls found throughout the state.  Across the interior face of the wall, select stones hold cast bronze objects that are iconic of the work and tools of the Department.  Basalt granite seating stones are placed within the plaza space.
